ABOUT THE ARTIST

Michelle Montjoy’s immersive installations spread to overtake the space offering an absurd and surreal look at society’s relationship to the environment. Montjoy empowers this conversation through the use of recycled t-shirts that she rips up and ties together to make immense balls of yarn. These textiles are crocheted, transforming the pieces into interactive structures. The dichotomy of the natural world being depicted through the use of recycled material brings awareness to the viewer’s own consumptive impact as well as humanity's collective existence on the environment.
