J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its H2O International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of July 2018.

"The heart of a man is much like the sea.  It has it's storms, it has it's tides and in it's depths it has it's pearls too."~Vincent van Gogh

Water is one of the most important elements for sustaining human life.  We live on a water planet.  It surrounds us, and we cannot live without it.

For this competition artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of water; the sea, the lake, a stream, the rain. The artwork varies from realism to surrealism to abstraction. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best inspired  art and photography.

Our guest jurors for H2O exhibtion were Philadelphia based artist, Rob Seitz. Rob is an artist and educator currently working with the University City Arts League. He has taught visual arts with a focus on collaboration in a variety of youth programs and schools in Lancaster and Philadelphia. His graphic design business "Seitz Print" creates t-shirts, posters, album covers, stickers, and block printed business cards. www.facebook.com/seitzprint

And, Rusty Eveland, who studied at the Delaware College of Art in Wilmington, DE, and finished with a BFA in Animation from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Currently a working artist out of Philadelphia, his focus has been on painting and animation. Movement, composition, and color are all particularities of his work. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited and sold across the country, and his animated shorts have been screened in festivals around the Philadelphia area.  You can follow Rusty on Instagram.

Each of our monthly themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place.  The First Place winner for the H2O show is Lin Ji for his 3-Dimensional wood piece, The Interpreter.  Our jurors commented, "Exploring various qualities of water without using or showing water. They are balanced and immobile but capture that slow and steady movement of water." As the First Place winner, Lin Ji will also be our Featured Artist for the month of June.

Taking Second Place is Thomas Watkins for his photograph, Flow.  Juror, Rob Sietz commented, "Really captures more of an abstract quality of water rather than a literal take." And, Third Place goes to John Mazlish for his photograph, Pacific Surf.  Our jurors selected this work becasue it "shows water as a force".

Five honorable mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Mia Baila for her acrylic painting, Jumping For Joy, Michael Duke for his photograph, Rage, Kristopher Schoenleber for his photograph, Dwarf, Eric Seplowitz for his photograph, Hull, and Stephanie Whitney for her monoprint, Sunset On The Susquehanna.

Please visit the Monthly Winners Page to learn more about each of these award winning artists and to contact them directly about their work.
