Handpicked exhibitors—90 ceramists, art glass makers, fine artists, sculptors, jewelers, fashion designers, and furniture makers--will fill the museum's Beaux-Arts Court at the fifth annual American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Museum Nov. 18-19, timed for gift giving. “Seeing the trendsetting, exquisite work of these award-winning American artisans in conjunction with exhibitions of a world renowned museum is a double benefit,” said show co-founder/director Richard Rothbard. “At our show, visitors will enjoy cutting edge work—whether classic or contemporary--executed by hand by the country’s best talent,” he said. The show is produced and curated by An American Craftsman Galleries that has supported crafts artists since 1982, longer than any other gallery in NYC, representing the work of 500+ artisans from across the country.
Tickets to the craft show include general admission to the Brooklyn Museum. Some of the concurrent exhibitions include: “Rodin at the Brooklyn Museum: The Body in Bronze,” that opens November 17; “Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt;” “Proof: Francisco Goya, Sergei Eisenstein, Robert Longo,” and “Arts of Korea.”

Bonnie Shanas designs and makes figurative sculptures from wire mesh made of galvanized steel (used in construction). The work is created freehand, no molds, by manipulating the mesh by hand, a wooden knife and pliers. The final work (in the form of a relief) approx. 6"D, is painted, mounted on a silk mat and framed.
