The Art Of Lamp studio is located in a peaceful country setting in Northwestern Connecticut. We are surrounded by rolling hills much of which is a nature preserve. The art studio looks out over a meadow full of wild life. The air is fresh, the vegetation lush and the smells of nature are always around us.

Artist ( Description ):

Jean-Luc Godard is an artist who mainly works with lighting design. Originally born and raised in France, he moved to the United States in 1990. He is a self-taught artist that favors wood and metal in his creations. His work on lighting focuses on organic designs and repurposed vintage. His signature work consists of sculpted nature inspired elements, distinctive wooden lamp shades with complex layered metal effects. His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences from the artist as a starting point.

By focusing on techniques and materials, Jean-Luc tries to approach his work in a simple and yet elegant way, likes to involve the viewer in a way that is sometimes physical and believes in the idea of function following form in a work.

His works are notable for their natural finish, integrity and tactile nature. This is of great importance and bears witness to great craftsmanship.

Jean-Luc Godard currently lives and works in West Granby, Connecticut USA.
