“First Sight," an exhibit of recent paintings by Joyce Barron Leopardo, and Robin Stearns, will be held at Gallery House, 320 California Ave., Palo Alto, CA (650-326-1668) from January 3rd to January 28th, 2017. A reception for the artists will take place on Sunday, January 15th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“First Sight” celebrates the new year, a new era, and hopefully, a new love for these two emerging artists. Robin Stearns creates dark and contemplative cityscapes and portraits in oil, while Joyce Baron Leopardo uses both watercolor and mixed media to create abstract and figurative pieces.
Robin Stearns
Stearns’s vision focuses on beautiful people who face ”challenges,” but who ultimately persevere. Her cityscapes capitalize on the same heroic instinct, in which the city itself is the protagonist. She deconstructs these landscapes, using rollers and knives and sponges, blending ugly into beauty, until they become a story about the light and the motion and the energy of the city.
Joyce Barron Leopardo
Leopardo explores both color and light through her personal vision. She volunteers locally and teaches art classes in the mid peninsula area. She promotes painting from your heart with her signature art class titled " Art from the Heart". She has earned signature awards from both the SWA and CWA art associations, and has been featured in several Triton Museum Art exhibits, and in many local art galleries.
