AMERICANOH - Nature / Ethos is a photographic study of the perspective, identity, and re-identity of American newcomers through culture. A crucial and binding aesthetic point is the idea of “the element in the room”. Incorporating four classic elements of our world: Earth, Fire, Air, and Water, these portraits seek to explore the manifestation and cross-pollination of race and nationality within a new American ethos.

Artist:
Zie Otto; né Zie Ouattara in Côte d’Ivoire is an American photographer and creative director based in New York. As a multi-disciplined visual artist he lead a team of directors of photography, designers and animator artists creating work for TV, Cinema and Interactive Media. Zie learned to work with cameras and loved the art at a young age in the west african country of Côte d’Ivoire with his late grand father and uncle who enjoyed cinematography. He carried this spirit to NY a year before starting high school. After moving to Palm Coast, Florida for a year of high school from Queens, he moved back to NY and bought his first digital camera in 2008 while attending New York Institute of Technology.
"I have always loved photography and for that reason submerged myself in the medium. I create images to express my feelings, thoughts, ideas, or simply to mirror the relationship between me and my subject. Usually, I take photographs for myself in order to explore and document my world, and to interact with people I might otherwise not meet. I specifically love making portraits because it forces both me and my subject to become intimate in just a short bit of time. Portraits afford me the opportunity to explore parts my subject’s personality and/or identity and, ultimately, they allow me to tell a story." Zie Otto (Art-Mine)
Zie Otto's images, notably his portraits have captured the beauty and chaos of his subjects personalities.
