Laurie Victor Kay’s composed photographs explore a sense of escape. Printed in large scale these works are inspired by her sense of adventure and her travels around the world. She continually discovers poetic beauty in unexpected places. With the foundation of photography Kay, utilizes her background in painting to build sophisticated, and vibrant compositions. By creating order out of chaos, she provokes viewers to consider the disorder in the world around them along with their own internal chaos, while pushing them to find the beauty within both their surroundings and themselves.

Artist ( Description ):

Photographer Laurie Victor Kay is best known for focusing her lens on public places and the people who inhabit them. Creating stunning color photographs Victor Kay employs painterly techniques, resulting in vibrant, dream like images. Interpreting her surroundings, Laurie sketches her images and while in the developing process draws out the mood surrounding the moment. While earning regard as portraitist, Laurie works collaboratively with her husband Charles Kay Jr. to create striking images that endure time. Their style pays homage to portrait masters of centuries past, while having a distinctly modern edge. While having photographed many notable people, places, and things, Laurie believes that it is in the most ordinary of subjects that they discover the most extraordinary.
