Vertical Gallery is proud to present presents Cities, Towns, and Color Fields, a solo exhibition by Chicago based artist Nate Otto, featuring over 30 new pieces on canvas and wood. The exhibition runs February 7 – February 28, 2015 with an opening reception with the artist Saturday, February 7, 6-10pm.

An imagist as well as an expressionist, Nate Otto’s paintings, drawings, and collages represent a wrestling match among a deep vocabulary of individualistic styles. Nate is interested in reflecting the urban landscape through work strongly influenced by illustration, color field painting, street art, advertising, graphic design, and geometric abstraction. This is Nate's first solo exhibition featuring large scale paintings. The works, rendered in acrylic, spray paint, paint marker, collage, and ink, are an extension and evolution of Nate’s illustrative works on small panels. The process often includes many layers of paint that are reflective of the ongoing renewal and revision of landscapes. In addition to these works on canvas, the exhibition will also include over 20 pieces of intensive detail done on wooden panels.
