Environmental art involves artistic works which have the intent of becoming a part of or enhancing the environment, whilst making a statement on ecological and conservation issues.

Environmental art became increasingly popular in Western societies as issues surrounding the environment arose in the 1950s and 1960s. It was then that artists began to distinguish the developing relationship between man, nature and crucial ecological problems, and the growing awareness of these issues influenced artists to express these concerns in a variety of conservational art forms.

While environmental art has conventionally focused on ecological issues and political, historical or social context surrounding the environment, today, we see the movement adapt into further artistic expression, including Land Art, Conceptual Art, Earth Art. Notably, there has been a rise of the art of ‘sustainability, also known as ‘Green Art’.

Green art is the practice of using environmentally friendly, non-toxic and natural materials. Combining these art forms will depend on the artistic intent. For example, tapestry or textile artists can use natural fibres and exhibit their work in natural settings using ecological themes, whilst painters focused on environmental and green art can use sustainable, organic and recyclable materials.

Why Go Green? Wherever you go, people across the globe are now focusing on going green since it positively impacts the earth. From plastic bag recycling to the treatment of chemical products, people are trying to come up with new ways that are sustainable and useful in helping the world go green.

The artists in this exhibition want to focus precisely on this issue to raise awareness among their audience.

But why exactly should you Go Green, too? At the end of the day, going green is a personal choice that is embraced by individuals to contribute towards the betterment of this planet and make the world a better place to live for the generations to come.

When you go green, you are effectively reducing your carbon footprint. By reducing pollution, you are also reducing the amount of energy that is being consumed, thereby making way for a greener and cleaner environment.

Human activities are the reasons behind global warming.  All the individual actions which reduce air pollution also help stop climate change.

Despite international efforts to protect forests and other habitats, many natural ecosystems are still at a high risk of being destroyed, so more action is still necessary.

Decreasing air pollutants would reduce water pollution by decreasing acid rain and eutrophication that can harm wildlife, especially in aquatic environments, and crops and trees.

By choosing to follow the sustainable route, you are creating a cleaner and brighter future for your children and generations after.

The valuable resources can be saved by recycling. Producing new goods always requires much more energy, while recycling needs only a fraction.

First, it helps reduce waste, thereby paving the way for a cleaner environment.  Over time, this method helps you become more creative and come up with new ways to be energy and materially efficient. Note that buying less and buying used products are also Green choices.

There is much that people can do if they can buy wisely, cut down on consumerism, and waste production. This would ensure resources last longer.

Every year a large area of rainforests goes towards the development of roads, highways, townships, and agriculture. In short, due to an increase in urbanization, people are using the areas covered by rainforests for their own interests.

Similarly, several trees are axed to produce a ton of printing and writing paper. Rainforests act as air purifiers and are a lifeline for thousands of plants and animals.

When you go green, you actively take part in preventing Rainforest exploitation, which in turn has a positive impact on the environment.

Preparing stuff from scratch requires more energy and thus has an environmental impact.

By choosing green products that are made up of recycled materials you can reduce your carbon footprint and that will also reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfills.

Water pollution is caused by point sources where wastes are discharged into rivers and oceans, according to the National Ocean Atmospheric Administration. Non-point pollution includes soil erosion, agricultural runoff loaded with fertilizers and pesticides, urban runoff containing oil, pet and garden wastes explains Green living reduces waste that avoids unauthorized disposal and prevents water pollution.

The world is not going to be around forever. The longer that you take care of it the longer it will last. Taking small steps like recycling and saving energy will benefit the Earth for a much longer time.

Going green can make a big difference in how you perceive the world around you. Taking a few small steps at a time can make a big impact on the people and the world around you. It does not take much time, just a little compassion and effort.
