Grand Entry ~ In the Circle, an international online printmaking solo exhibition by Linda Whitney opens on November 01, and will continue for two months until December 31, 2023.
Linda Whitney's mezzotint images are printed from hand-rocked copper on Hahnemuhle Copperplate paper and any added color is pigment gathered from the earth and hand painted. The process is long and gives her time for reflection and each part of this process is hopefully honoring and respecting the long history of the indigenous culture. Her mezzotint artworks captures the movement of the dancers and the texture, beauty and detail of the regalia they wear while reflecting strength and tenacity of their history. As mentioned in her statement, these mezzotints are made as a tribute to her late powwow dancing husband plus her adopted grandmother and her people.

Artist:
Linda Whitney is professor emeritus who lives in her studio. Her mezzotints have traveled to over 300 exhibition throughout North America and Europe; and to Australia, New Zealand, Serbia, Bulgaria, Nicaragua, Russia, India and China. Her work was given one of four international awards at the last full International Mezzotint Festival. She is currently working on a body of work for four solo shows scheduled for 2023, 2024 and a two woman exhibition in 2025. Her passion is making mezzotints, observing powwow dancers and working with her three legged rescue pit bull.
