Water Play, a solo conceptual art exhibition by Golnaz Lavasani, opens at Shirin Art Gallery on Friday, 10 July 2020.

Golnaz is truly the voice of mother nature, and her art expresses not only our apathetic manner but our disregard for our future. Through her statement for the Water Play exhibition, she says the fantastic story of Tishtar; the deity of all waters and fountainhead of all roaring springs, from the Persian Mythology. She wished the story of Tishtar has whispered in our ears again, as Tishtar fought with Aposh demon of drought for three days and was finally defeated. As a result, the entire earth exposed to drought. Tishtar took his complaint to the court of Ahuramazda and, with distress, explained that his defeat was because people did not offer their prayers to him. Ahuramazda breathed the power of ten mountains and the force of ten rivers to him. In the second phase of the battle, Tishtar was victorious, and water could flow easily without barriers towards farms and pastures. The wind moved the rain clouds from one side to another, and eventually, it rained in the seven realms.

Such stories give us the strength to fight for earth and nature life and remember that this battle is a fight for our future as humankind. This conceptual show encourages us to start caring for mother nature and water shortage on earth. It is a chance to join the Iranian artist; Golnaz Lavasani in her concerns for mother nature rights and stop our cruel manners under the name of standard modern lifestyle, while enjoying the simplicity, pure colors and familiar elements that connects us to mother nature and water the essential aspect of life.

After the opening ceremony on 10 July, the show will continue till 22 July 2020 in Shirin Art Gallery. The show remains online till 10 August 2020 on http://www.biafarin.com/waterplay
