Opening:
Tuesday, 30 October 2018 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

In conjunction with the first ever US Museum survey dedicated to Surrealist artist Leonor Fini (1907-1996), the Museum of Sex presents a special evening of Sexual Sorcery–presentations, instruction, and incantations by contemporary artists, witches, and BDSM practitioners.

The event will start with a tour led by curator Lissa Rivera of the exhibition Leonor Fini: Theatre of Desire, 1930-1990, which features over 100 works exploring themes of metamorphosis, eroticism, empowerment, androgyny, and sexual sorcery. Leonor Fini drew on art from ancient times to her own time, finding threads of female empowerment and sexual freedom that she incorporated into her own work. Through this practice, Fini was able not only to reject, but to transcend the rules and norms of her own time.

Following the tour, Tiona Nekkia McClodden and Yin Q will share their personal practices of sex magic and how it powers their work. Attendees will learn techniques of witchcraft/shamanism that will fuel their everyday creative acts. A group activity will follow the presentations, helping to solidify the internal power within us all. An after-event will feature one-on-one divinations with multiple practitioners, including artist Rebecca Purcell–featuring her original Organon 9 Worlds deck, Bone Readings by illustrator Stan Stanley, and Tarot of the Silver Dawn by activist/artist Andy Eye.
