Exploring Encaustics with Susan Silvester (via Zoom)

Learn the unique tips and tricks artist Susan Silvester has developed over 18 years of working with encaustics in this virtual workshop. Susan became enthralled with this medium after studying with Cynthia Winika, the Encaustic Workshop Director/Teacher for R&F Handmade Paints. Susan will discuss good studio practices and introduce various substrates and grounds to use, as well as demonstrate a variety of surface techniques, including image transfers, oil sticks, and more.

This workshop is great for artists of all levels, whether you're exploring encaustics for the first time and want to learn the basics, or for experienced artists who want to work alongside Susan during her demonstrations. Participants will receive an optional materials list, and can either work alongside Susan or opt to simply watch and learn the encaustics process before committing to purchasing materials. Participants will also receive a recording of the workshop session. No encaustic experience is necessary.
