Artist Statement:
Sarah Wilkes (b. 1980) is a classically trained artist whose creative construction revolves around classic portraiture, abstract expressionism, and the blending of both. Wilkes captures human emotion and authenticity in her work by implementing a limited, monochromatic color palette against a strong, textured background --thereby making the subject the primary focal point and encouraging viewer interpretation and connection.
