India never ceases to fascinate. Looming large in the horizon is the cultural wealth and diversity that weaves itself into a merging spectrum of  harmony and dissonance. And of course, this is greatly reflected  in the arts,  be it modern or contemporary and is probably the defining factor which sets it apart from the arts of the rest of the world.

Contemporary India is as mystical and spiritual as ancient India but with an au courant factor dominant in every obscure or remote part of the country.

Starting with the 30000 years old stone age rock paintings to the 17th century miniature paintings of the Ajanta Caves and the significant period of  19th century Bengal school of art which paved its way to the Modern Indian art movement, Contemporary art of India has travelled wide terrains.

What we call “Art of the Now” in India is a current body of works by artists who have found ways to express the aspirations and conflicts of a new generation in a global world and have established an ever-stronger presence on the global art scene.
