Art appreciators and artists alike visit opening nights hosted by galleries. They enjoy the art, the social scene, partake in the food and wine, but leave empty handed... Except for the very few who we call, the Collectors.  These special individuals become consistent supporters and enable artists and galleries to thrive.

Whether international or regional, the role of the art collector is crucial to artists, galleries, museums and the cultural economy. They serve a great purpose in the development of an art culture. Art Collectors are vital to keep the arts alive.

Over the past ten years, the South Bay has seen a remarkable growth in the arts; galleries, non-profits, museums and studio collectives have been established and sustained throughout the South Bay Cities, and there is no sign of slowing down!  We have the Collectors to thank for their steady and unconditional support.

SBC would like to honor Paul Corneil and Judith Burke, two longstanding South Bay collectors to exhibit a portion of their collections in 2 South Bay Art Collectors.  They have made a tenacious impact on many artists' lives with their years of dedication, passion, and have developed a strong relationship with South Bay Contemporary. Although they may have varied aesthetic tastes for what they collect, they have in common a devotion to art.

Burke and Corneil will be present at the reception night and at the Collectors Talk. Join us to view the two collections on display in the gallery and to discover what motivates these two South Bay collectors.

A list of artist in the collections will be posted on the website: Southbaycontemporary.org
