Gilman Contemporary is celebrating 12 years of visual art with a dramatic group exhibition. From the beginning we have made it our mission to introduce artists with an “innovative vision of their craft” to the Valley and we continue to embody this philosophy. We are committed to representing both established and emerging artists who inspire us, and offer new and different perspectives to our clients. This exhibition celebrates our success and brings fresh work from our current gallery artists. From emerging artists Niv Rozenberg, Isabelle Menin, and Kelly Ording to established favorites Hunt Slonem, Ashley Collins, and Greg Miller this exhibition explores the art that makes our gallery unique.
Emerging artist Isabelle Menin’s manipulated photographs push the boundaries of what we consider photography. With distorted florals, Menin creates “disordered landscapes” that are both painterly and sharp. Our love of photography has drawn us to seek out inventive and unique takes on this medium. We are also showing a new large scale, assembled, painting by established artist Ashley Collins. Collins has developed a signature style that is instantly recognizable. As her career has taken off, she has developed a love for en-caustic that suits her gestural style. Her work is loved for her incorporation of layers of history, text, and objects. She pushes the boundaries of painting by incorporating both story and passion into her subject.
