These abstracted drawings are inspired by the common visual language felt and seen whenever large numbers of people mass and unite in protest. Beginning with the "Global Protest Wave of 2019", and continuing with the renewed urgency to be heard and seen of the Black Lives Matter movement, this body of work is timely and includes pieces from June and July 2020. Every day we are presented with images of widespread public dissent from a world seeking transformation. From the politics of the right, left, center, and every issue in between, this work acknowledges the common visual language of masses of passionate people as they unite in protest.

The drawings are inspired by the imagery released by the press representing the chaos and violence of protests that is often the unwarranted result. All of my recent work has similar elements of flat shape, a combination of abstraction and representation, and compressed moving form. This new body of work compelled me to shift from the personal to the body politic.
