7pm-9pm

A summer evening of performance in Bow Arts’ Victorian courtyard, adjacent to the Gallery. Featuring bluebeard by Cradeaux Alexander (with a live prop), The Luncheon by Luis Amália and Kace Monney, and DISCO DE MARISE by Jones Tensini.

bluebeard develops an aesthetic of the body as a stage. Decadence, power play, and annihilation are expressed through original text, props, and physicality, scoring the existential threat of extreme right wing futures. This iteration of bluebeard carries on a long conversation Cradeaux has been developing in his work which explores conversations between himself and established characters (Blue Beard in this case) and existing dramatic narratives, reassessing and critiquing their space in contemporary culture.

The Luncheon explores the daily routines concealed within the act of eating, focussing on the conversations generated through this daily and seemingly mundane act. Bizarre conversation begins to seem not so bizarre, as we are drawn to the table and the space around. All we know is that everything will go on as long as they keep eating. Previously performed at Stockwell Playhouse & The New Shoreditch Theatre.

Brazilian born Jones Tensini's DISCO DE MARISE pays homage to disco, exploring its importance and power in popular culture . Freedom of expression, gender, human rights and happiness all play a part. 'Keep dancing' and the world will be a better place.
