You are warmly invited to attend the opening of The Brick Lane Gallery’s Autumn/Winter Art in Mind exhibition – OUT OF THIS WORLD. Featuring 8 artists during London’s Frieze week who represent some of the best contemporary styles from here and overseas.  Representing the mediums of painting, sculpture and illustration, each of these unique artists from different parts of the world will be brought together in an eclectic group show here in East London.

FEATURED ARTISTS:

Bogna Pawolwska lives and works in Warsaw having graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (faculty of Painting 2012) and the University of Warsaw (Applied Social Sciences 2011). Bogna uses mixed techniques in her paintings to create dream-like imagery with luminous and intense colours.

David Ivory is a London based artist inspired by the world around him., in particular the energy of London's ever evolving skyline and its iconic landmarks, as well as the hustle and bustle of daily life within its winding streets.  David experiments and develops his own expressive style which is presented in his chosen works for this exhibition. He describes his work as being expressive and energetic with a semi abstract twist’.

Ella Prakash was born and brought up in Bahrain.  Her abstract figure paintings present the world as if seen through a prism, with bold colours parcelled out into geometric forms that offer fleeting, exhilarating glimpses of bodies, streets, and still life’s.  Her permanent collection is in Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art-Las Vegas. Her work has also been exhibited and appreciated in the leading Art Galleries in USA and Europe, and India.

Also from Bahrain, Seema Baqi presents a series of works which depict cultural Bahraini attire and the traditional female role. “Thoub alnashel” and “darra’a” are garments worn in the occasions of wedding, Eid and traditional parties. Accessories and Gold jewelry are added over the head, around the neck and on other areas as a sign of glamour, femininity and elegance.

With a predisposition to the arts, Harwan Prod is a multi-talented artist -  as a Painter, Director, and Author. Harwan lives and works in Brussels, but he travels the world. He is very talented and innovative in abstract art, and dares to mix colours such as red, yellow, ocher, and brown. His surprising yet subtle blend of colours creates warm combinations and contemporary interpretations of abstract art. His colors are shimmering and classic at the same time.

Using a single, barbed needle borrowed from commercial felting machines, Sandy Sand tangles and compacts wool fibers by repeatedly jabbing the needle into the fibres, forming three-dimensional felt sculptures. ‘Stars in Jars,’ Sandy’s debut exhibition here at The Brick Lane Gallery will play host to a wealth of famous felted faces, from Gandhi to Amy Winehouse. ‘I find the idea of the “celebrity caricature” very interesting and fun to play with’ Sandy told us. By displaying the work in jars and frames, the exhibition also plays on how we spectate and ogle the famous, as if they were part of some 19th century freak show or scientific experiment.

 Tomonori Nishimura will be exhibiting at the Brick Lane Gallery for the second time and we are proud to welcome him back to our walls. Tomonori uses metallic colours to create paintings of plants that are endangered or extinct in the wild. In some of the paintings presented in this exhibition, the images of plants are represented by the reflection on its metallic surface. The painting is textured with brush marks and stroke of knives to reflect the light in a certain way. The images therefore become visible or invisible depending on the lighting condition.

Job, Joris & Marieke is a studio for illustration, animation, character design and music. Their work is populated by inept characters who usually get wrapped up in awkward situations. Job, Joris & Marieke loves to work on commissioned projects such as commercials and music videos.  Next to that they sometimes just need to lose themselves in their independent work such as short films and designer toys. In 2011 they made a music video for Gers Pardoel’s song ‘Ik neem je mee’. The video became a Youtube hit and has now been watched fifteen million times. In the same year, they made the music video ‘Born with a Bothered Mind’, in which Manfred the Yeti’s holiday turns into a succession of camping discomforts.
