First year BA Jewellery Design students from Central Saint Martins have made jewellery and art in response to the story of the Foundling Hospital.
Since 2014 the Museum has been working in partnership with Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Forming a compulsory element of the students’ course, this project engaged first year students studying for a BA in Jewellery Design with the rich history of the Foundling Hospital. Over a series of visits to the Museum and the London Metropolitan Archives, each student produced an artistic response to the history of the Hospital, their pieces linked to an object or element of the story.
Covering a range of materials and processes, these diverse works offer fresh and engaging ways of looking at the Foundling Hospital story. An exhibition of the students’ work can be found in the Introductory Gallery and Ante Room, while a selection of their jewellery will be on sale in the Museum Shop.
