The Brick Lane Gallery is proud to present our Autumn PORTRAIT exhibition. The show will feature nine outstanding local and international portrait artists. Portraiture has always been one of the most favoured and recognised art expressions, whether it is to commemorate a significant event, document stories and lifestyles, record family members for future generations, construct ideals and identities or simply exalt beauty. This exhibition explores the different narratives and languages in portraits as well as its multi-layered aesthetic. We welcome you to join us to discover the artists’ observational depth and a variety of styles in the contemporary approach to portraiture through the boldly coloured and self-revealing artworks by Levi Boulis, Peter Burke´s insightful views provided by simplified and distorted forms, as well as the beauty emphasizing female representations by Maria SaMont encouraging a serene contemplation of human aesthetic.
