Curated by Ros Faram, Foule Parlement is a group painting show based around the theme of birds. Titled after Chaucer’s C14th dream-vision poem, The Parlement of Foules, which addresses the questions of love, free will and destiny through the cast of an array of birds. The exhibition gathers together bird-works by the cast of an array of painters to hold parliament in Rye:- Ros Faram, Hayley Field, The Baron Gilvan, Paul Housley, Phil King, Joe Packer, Neil Metzner, Iain Nicholls, Jacqueline Utley
Painting detail: Neil Metzner, The Witness, oil on canvas, 2014
Foule Parlement was first shown at ESPS, St Leonards-on-Sea, earlier this year with a slightly different cast and it will be shown at No 4a Gallery in Malvern in April 2016 with a different cast again, keeping the parlance on the wing.
