Art that People Step On, an international digitally enhanced online solo photography exhibition by Mandayam Thirunarayanan opens on September 11, and will continue for two months until November 11, 2023.
The artist Dr. Thiru has developed the second series of photos of what he calls “Art That People Step On.”
Because many of the images are hard to understand, he has named them “Unintelligiblistic Art”. Dr. Thiru initially started looking for patterns in nature and on paved surfaces, walls, and in other manmade objects that looked like the symbol for “OM”, a symbol that has religious and spiritual significance for Hindus. The quest for the symbol for OM resulted in the development of “Art That People Step On.” Dr. Thiru started noticing art-like patterns in spills, leaks, stains, smudges, splatter, spit and weathered, eroded and repaired portions of sidewalks and other paved and semi-paved areas that people generally step on without paying much attention. Using the camera in his smart phone, he started taking pictures of the artistic patterns that he observed in such areas. For obvious reasons, he calls his growing collection of photos “Art That People Step On.”
