My Journey - from Isolation to Finding Community, an international online solo drawing and painting exhibition by Nicole Rubio, opens on September 01 and will continue through October 01, 2022.
Nicole's works follow a mission to present possibibility of communication even through Covid isolation and loneliness. Her fantasy world drawings are full of methaphors such as red rock landscape for earth, red patches for raw emotions, and animals for emotional awareness. As she mentioned in her statement: "we all sense things differently and by respecting each other's differences, we can give each other comfort and be less lonely."

Artist:
Nicole Rubio was born in New York and graduated from the Museum School of Fine Arts, Boston. She migrated to the west coast in 1980. For the next thirty years she supported herself as a secretary. Since retiring in 2010, she has created a body of large scale pastel drawings using dress as metaphor for the unseen emotional world. She is legally blind.
