Portraits of the Past is a project initiated and managed by  Mid Pennine Arts which is collecting memories of Gawthorpe.  What does Gawthorpe mean to you?  Is it the place you walk the dog every day or did you make it part of a special occasion, such as your wedding? MPA have created an archive website for people to share their photographs of Gawthorpe and they would love you to share yours.  The aim is to get a complete picture of how people use Gawthorpe now and in the past.  Be part of the story by adding your images to the archive website: www.portraitsofthepast.org.uk

You can also come along and share your memories at special events.  Come to Gawthorpe on 28 August between 1-4pm for free family friendly activities, including the opportunity to put on a costume and have your picture taken!  On 14 September MPA, along with members of the NW Sound Archive and Padiham & District Photographic Society, will be at Padiham Library between 9.30am-12.30pm and at Gawthorpe Hall between 2-4pm and they would love the opportunity to hear your memories of Gawthorpe.  Tasty edibles for those with the most interesting tales!

This project has been made possible by the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
