MADISON, WI, June 6, 2013 – The CoD+A Awards: Collaboration of Design + Art successfully closed its call for entries on May 31, 2013 with over 400 entries from around the globe. This is the first international awards program to honor the collaborations between designers, architects, artists, and art professionals—those individuals whose collective imaginations create the public and private spaces that inspire us daily. The submissions, which represent twenty-nine countries in eight design categories, demonstrate an increasing desire on the part of design professionals to involve artists early in the design process and to collaborate with them for outstanding results.

Entries represent over $48M in commission fees for artists, ranging from the $1,500,00 commission for the "Tree of Life," a comprehensive streetscape installation in Omaha, Nebraska, to a $1,000 commission fee for a quilt designed as a community engagement project at a new community center in New York City. Projects reflect a breadth and depth of scope, from a carved wooden bus stop submitted by two designers in Finland to architectural paintings commissioned for the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The CoD+A Awards fulfilled its mission of celebrating design projects that demonstrate the successful integration of commissioned art into interior, architectural, and public spaces.

Toni Sikes, Co-CEO of The Art Commission, the company that sponsors the awards program, stated, "The CoD+A Awards recognize the exciting collaborations taking place between artists and the design community. We are gratified at the response to our call for entries, and hope these submissions will stimulate ideas and inspiration in the future."

An esteemed panel of jurors from the design, architecture, and art worlds will judge the awards. Jurying will take place between June 5 and June 15, 2013. The jury’s top selections in each category will then be exhibited online, where design enthusiasts from around the globe will be invited to vote for their favorites during a highly publicized People’s Choice campaign. All CoD+A Awards winners will be announced in the fall. Entries may currently be viewed at codaawards.com.
