Artist:
Beginning my mosaics with a simple acrylic or gouache painting provides me with a foundation. Working with mosaics gives me the chance to take broken pieces of glass and make them into a new creation. Since mosaics require a sturdy surface, I create them on canvas panels or cradled wood panels. The majority of my work is between 8” x 10” and 11” x 14” because I enjoy working on a more intimate scale with the substrate.
My art practice is in direct contrast with my rigid day job. The dreamlike quality of my art represents freedom; I can make and do what I want and therefore bring a sense of hope and beauty to my audience.
Ivy Egger lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania where she grew up. She took an interest in art early in life. She studied at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia before graduating from Millersville University with a B.A. in art. After graduating she took additional design courses at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.
After trying out many artistic means, one of her current mediums of choice is gouache, because of its vast versatility and forgiving characteristics; her other current medium is mixed media mosaic, utilizing pieces of cut glass, beads, mica, glitter, and whatever else adds a sparkle to this art form.
She continues to show in many art exhibitions and galleries in the Greater Philadelphia region. Some recent exhibitions include the Chester County Studio Art Tour, the View show at Chester County Art Association, and the Lipstick and Rouge show at Elaina's Fine Art and Framing. Some upcoming exhibitions include the 2023 Art Ability at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, the Members Show at Chester County Art Association, and a solo exhibition at St. David's Art Gallery in Wayne.
