“AQUA”

January 26, 2024 – March 16, 2024

Opening Reception January 26, 2024, from 7-9 PM

FP Contemporary is pleased to announce the opening of "AQUA", featuring the artwork of visual artist Claudia Meyer. Through this solo exhibition, Claudia Meyer showcases her new creative flight that highlights water and the interplay between energy and light. Claudia draws inspiration from the sensations she experiences around the freedom given to us by the liquid element, which serves as a true mirror of life. The freedom of movement that water gives us presents a striking beauty that is personified by the spiral reflection, which acts as a reflection of the soul.

The exhibition will showcase a variety of mediums, including LED light Installations, sculptures, and ceramics. Through her creations, Claudia Meyer aims to inspire deep contemplation in viewers, by exploring the dynamic relationship between water and its sediments. A skilled artist, Meyer uses light and shadow to create colorful and dynamic images that are truly unique. Meyer has collaborated with Los Angeles-based ceramicist, HÜG to produce some of the ceramic pieces on display.

By transforming nature into art, Claudia Meyer reminds us of the rich history of artistic expression. "AQUA" is set to be an exhibition that will provoke thought and leave a lasting impression on all who attend, offering a visually stunning showcase of Meyer's work that is accessible to all.

Artist ( Description ):

While metaphysics teaches us to believe in existence and nothingness, Claudia Meyer’s art shows us matter and light. The essence of the artist’s creations therefore consists of flows and energy. To unite the latter, her creative inspiration draws upon all materials, including those produced by nature, and those invented by man. This expresses a great sense of freedom, as the artist’s hand fashions cubes, rectangles, walls, and installations are illuminated by the material and revealed by light. Mondrian said that “art is artificial, and nature is natural”.

Claudia Meyer’s art depicts the imaginary in the reality of the material, which is magnified by the light and mingles, in turn, with the shadows of its structures, angles, and volumes. The artwork guides and enables us to exist with the artist. The generous strokes and expressive lines show that the material is full of this luminous and translucent vacuum. Movement emerges from the immobile forms. These spirals, these characters that resemble writing are imperceptible yet powerfully suggestive. They remind us of ancient manuscripts.

Immanent and material, Claudia’s creations point to the transcendent. This transcendence that is so close to us is one of emotion and sensitivity. At the heart of the temporal, her art confronts us with the universe and puts man back into a living world. It lights up the material as if to say that what is real is our language and that the artist is there to help us see it. It speaks to us of air, water, and fire. While Baudelaire shows us a world, in which “scents, colors and sounds answer one another”, Claudia Meyer reveals a living material to us, in which light and energy open the horizons of what is perceptible. In this sense, art is an opening, a mirror, or a dialogue, that is accessible to everyone. This art, which uses geometrical forms, goes back to primitive arts via the elementary forms that it reveals to us. By uniting them with the material, this art speaks to us about the unity of man and the beauty of all that surrounds us here and now.
