Steven Myron Holl Foundation presents Neil Denari: Displaced Buildings in Aperiodic City at ‘T’ Space Rhinebeck, from May 27 – June 25, 2017. Denari’s exhibition features 11 of his studio, NMDA’s unbuilt projects from the past seven years, each originally designed for specific contexts in various cities. Together, these projects, ranging from port terminals and hotels to museums, come together to occupy the voids in Aperiodic City, defining the nodes of its unified contextual field while retaining all attributes of each project’s original intended location and time. It is not the unmaterialized aspect that gives Aperiodic City its fictional quality, but as Sarah Whiting puts it, the “aspiration for an alternate future, combined with the extraordinary precision of [Denari’s] drawings.”

The exhibition will feature eleven inkjet drawings and notebook sketches.

Neil Denari’s exhibition concept for Aperiodic City is commissioned by ‘T’ Space.
