Bellevue, WA – Mars and Pony is the collective name for artist duo Gretchen Gammell and Amy Spassov. The culmination of four years of intense collaboration, Special Delivery, the latest offering from the artist duo, will be on view at Hall Spassov Gallery from April 2 through April 30, 2014.
Mars and Pony are two entities working as one. As the artists put it: “Two sets of eyes, four hands and one shared purpose.” The trust and intuition built between them results in paintings whose origin remains mysterious, breathing with the energy of a third entity pulsing between the pair.
Special Delivery is Gammell and Spassov’s second collaborative exhibition. Interweaving each other’s imagery and skill, they allow a new voice to emerge. “The mindfulness behind our process is evident in a bold editing process that leaves nothing sacred in the selection process. For a character or object… to make its way to posterity in a piece, its position must be earned.” This back and forth delivers a lush story, an abundant depth and just enough room to travel through each painting.
Hall Spassov Gallery is hosting a public Opening Reception for Mars and Pony: Special Delivery on Wednesday, April 2 from 5 to 8pm. Admission to the gallery is always free.
