Chilli Studios’ annual exhibition showcases a diverse collection of over fifty artists of all levels of profession and ability. It is a celebration of the immense creativity of Chilli Studios members and their valuable personal experiences through these testing times. Chilli Studios’ core values are to promote creative freedom; to explore the power of creativity to empower individuals to challenge internal and external perceptions of mental health. Valuing everyone’s unique personal expression, inspiring people to take creative chances, build skills and celebrate achievements.
The exhibition’s title is a phrase everyone has heard and experienced at some time. To the Chilli Studios community it has particular significance: for people with mental health issues it’s a term that can bring up feelings of frustrations they’re facing in everyday life. But it also represents a jumping-off point – an open opportunity to creatively overcome those challenges. There is always a way forward.
Set up in 2004, Chilli Studios is a charity that delivers services to those who are, or are at risk of, experiencing mental health conditions, and those who experience other forms of social exclusion within their communities. Their aim is to improve mental health through engaging people in creative activity – promoting social inclusion and interaction, developing skills and abilities, building resilience, enabling potential, and improving wellbeing.
