Charlotte Cory is a writer and artist, based in London. In recent years these have acquired cult status.

Cory's Visitoriana® - reworked Victorian photography and taxidermy - create a whole alternative post-Darwinian 19th Century, in which animals are firmly in charge.

Charlotte Cory's artworks are in the Royal Collection and have been shown on a number of occasions at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. All Saints clothing store have produced t-shirts featuring her pictures and Colonel Fox’s gin uses her artwork on its labels. The Sir John Soane’s Museum have issued a beautiful calendar of Cory’s images for 2017. This year she is showing in Florence, Arles, Frankfurt, and Madrid - as well as at the Woolff Gallery, London.

While writing a BBC Radio 4 drama series about Charlotte Brontë’s visits to London as a published writer, Charlotte Cory also curated “Charlotte Brontë at the Soane”, an exhibition currently at the gloriously eccentric Sir John Soane’s Museum about Charlotte Brontë’s fictitious visit to the museum.

Here at the Woolff, meanwhile, we are hosting Cory’s Brontë inspired artworks, one of her signature cabinets of curiosity and launching herbook of illustrations, loosely based on Charlotte Brontë’s great classic, Jane Eyre. Why all this Brontë stuff? Because it is Charlotte Brontë’s 200th birthday on April 21st.  We will be cutting a cake.
