- About -
Stour Galleries support emerging and established artists and never charge for the exhibition spaces, curation or technical assistance.
We open 24 exhibitions a year, aligning with the Whitechapel Gallery. Every First Thursday of the month we open an exhibition alongside other galleries across London.
… Our focus is on London contemporary artists and those that are connected to the area of Hackney Wick and Fish Island.
We facilitate art workshops related to the current art exhibitions and art events that are led by the exhibiting artists or our curators.
Supporting various local groups and organisations, Stour Galleries host art performances, theatre performances, art events, art talks and discussions, music performances in our gallery spaces. The versatile nature of the spaces allows us to accommodate almost any kind of performance art or music event without interrupting the art exhibitions in the spaces.
We also host academic events organised by universities or local schools that provide students and young people with learning skills opportunities or widen their networking skills. Over the 11 years of our existence, we have partnered with many academic and art organisations. Through providing our gallery spaces for Graduate Art Exhibitions, art talks and art lectures, Stour curators and creators welcome student groups from different art or non-art academic courses and facilitate lectures based on their academic needs.
Partnering with art galleries gives us an opportunity to exchange art exhibitions and cross-promote artists across London and beyond.
