I was inspired early in life to be an environmentalist after reading Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring." I didn't know how to do that until later when reducing, reusing, and recycling became prevalent.
Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, I protested for civil rights, the war in Vietnam, and the rights of gays, lesbian, and bisexual people.
My study of art began early in life and I won a National Scholastic Arts honorable mention while in high school. I had several shows in Washington, D.C. before moving to California where I earned an MFA from California Institute of the Arts.
Using found objects, recycled materials, and debris generated during daily life, I create political portraits and realistic representation of aquatic life.
