- About -

Julie Brixey-Williams is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, has been commissioned to make performances at the Victoria & Albert Museum, spent 10 months as artist-in-residence for the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain & Ireland, and has pieces in several collections. She is a a founder member of the collaborative group 'point and place' and also work in partnership with performer, Libby Worth. "Working on the edges of disciplines, misapplying techniques and garnering collaborative input allows my practice to slip and slide within that area of potential; that between my body and site.
Using a variety of media –sculpture, drawing in its widest sense, photography, book-form, collaborative work and performed process - I construct layers, slipping the intentional act into the space I inhabit, investing it with psychological meaning.Relationships are explored, links established, gestures stored as hieroglyphic marks and edges often unpicked or refashioned. It is important to me that the materiality of the mark reflects my intention or experience and by combining it with a characteristic delicacy, the pieces are imbued with fragility, emphasizing the precarious relationship between the world in which we live and the body we inhabit".
