There are several speculative ideas behind abstract art. While a few have taken the proposal of abstract being 'art for art’s sake' (that artwork should be simply about the creation of striking effects), other people have proposed art can or should be similar to music; in that just as music is patterns of sound, art’s consequence should be created by patterns of form, color and/or line.

​True abstract art not only utilizes flexibility and freedom; it may also employ bold uses of color, line, pattern, form, process, mark-making and composition.

​For this Call for Art, Las Laguna Art Gallery is seeking artists to provide abstract works in a variety of mediums.

​Acceptable work includes, but is not limited to: Acrylic, Collage, Color Pencil, Digital Photography, Encaustic, Fiber Arts, Glass Art, Mixed Media, New Media, Oil, Pen and Ink, Printmaking, Sculpture, Traditional Photography, Watercolor and more.

A select number of artists will be chosen to send their work to the gallery for the in-person exhibition at our brick-and-mortar gallery in Laguna Beach, California.
