Our panel discussion is going to explore what it is like to be gay/queer/bi/trans etc. today compared with 20 years ago. Is it easier to come out? Be out? Harder? Moderated by Janet Kornblum a writer and journalist. Panelists include a man who attended the very first Hayward Gay Prom 20 years ago when he received death threats after being featured in a newspaper story in the Hayward Daily Review; girls who attended this year’s prom and at least one man featured in the current show.

After the panel discussion there will be plenty of time to take in the show and reflect on the images. The show consists of the Parade from 1984-1990 and the 20th anniversary of the Hayward Gay Prom this year. It is a joyful show that shows us how far society has come.
