sp[a]ce gallery at Ayzenberg is thrilled to announce its second VR exhibition, Robot Remix VR. Curated by Milo Talwani and Paisley Smith, Robot Remix VR will premiere some of the medium’s most advanced and cutting-edge experiences to the public for the first time. Previously only available to select audiences at international film festivals, these immersive VR narratives will finally be available to the general public in a white-glove, VIP setting. The first phase of ROBOT REMIX Immersive XR (Saturday, July 6th, to Sunday, July 28th) grants audiences exclusive access to 6 award-winning experiences including Gloomy Eyes, Your Hands are Feet, Virtual Virtual Reality. Tickets are available for $25 and provide guaranteed access at reserved 60-minute time slots (12 – 1 pm, 1 – 2 pm, 2 – 3 pm, 4 – 5 pm, and 5 – 6 pm) on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional phases featuring more immersive experiences will be announced soon. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/robot-remix-immersive-xr-series-tickets-60229094844. The lineup will be revamped with new VR narratives on August 3rd.

“Virtual Reality is supposed to be for everyone,” says Smith. “While working with different film festivals that made space for exhibiting these amazing works, we realized these award-winning experiences were only being seen by very small, and frankly, elite, audiences. They weren’t getting out in the world the way they should.”

After stunning entertainment industry insiders at Sundance and Tribeca International Film Festival, Talwani and Smith decided to partner with sp[a]ce gallery at Ayzenberg to give the art world and Angelenos alike a chance to experience the leading-edge of VR. Talwani set out to design the exhibit in a way that allows attendees to fully be immersed in each experience. Unlike traditional trade-show VR showcases, Robot Remix VR will allow only fifteen attendees into the exhibit per hour, and each will have their own headset to wear the entire time. “This is the closest thing to a VIP experience attendees can have without paying a premium,” says Talwani.

The lineup of VR exhibits premiering July 6 includes:

Your Hands Are Feet

Created by Amelia Winger-Bearskin and Sarah Rothberg

Your Hands Are Feet is a VR experience that simulates new metaphors for yet-unnamed feelings. Co-directed by Amelia Winger-Bearskin, modeling and concept art by Niv Bavarsky, modeling by Jordan Speer, animation by Lily Feng. Programming by Aaron Meyers, Reese Donohue, David Lobser.  Debuted at the 2017 Engadget Experience.

Gloomy Eyes

Created by Jorge Tereso and Fernando Maldonado

Narrated by Colin Farrell

Logline: When the sun got tired of the humans it decided to hide and never rise again. The darkness awoke the dead from their graves. A zombie kid called Gloomy and a mortal girl called Nena fall in love and immerse in a deep connection that not even the most powerful man in town can destroy.

The multiple award-winning narrative premiered at Sundance and has been recognized by SXSW Festival, The Webby Awards, and many more.

Virtual Virtual Reality

Developed by Tender Claws

Virtual Virtual Reality is a game about VR, A.I. and our shared sci-fi fever dreams. Put on VR headsets in VR to escape your manager and explore deeper realities in this two hour game. In the near future, most human jobs are automated. What is the purpose of humanity? Activitude, the Virtual Labor System, is here to help. Your artisanal human companionship is still highly sought by our A.I. clients. Strap on your headset. Find your calling . . . Pssst. . . Sure, you could function like a therapy dog to an A.I. in Bismarck and watch your work ratings climb, but don’t you yearn for something more: adventure, conflict, purpose? Escape behind the scenes of Activitude by putting on VR headsets in VR to jump between realities, or vacuum up the world around you with your Activitude Brand Poly Cleanup Tool! Outrun Chaz, your manager, as he attempts to boot you out PERMANENTLY. Along the way, uncover the story of Activitude’s evolution from VR start-up to the “human purpose provider” it is today.

A Giant Mistake

Created by the Fauns Team

A Giant Mistake is a virtual reality experience developed and produced by the Fauns Team. In this experience, the player is perched on a walking giant’s shoulder... But what is the nature of the relationship that ties the little being to the colossus. The giant is voiced by acclaimed French voice actor Richard Darbois (Indiana Jones, Toy Story).
