Los Angeles (May 2014) – Like a kid in a candy store, Dave Lovejoy, a key figure in the Downtown Los Angeles art scene has a great eye for creating works around the architecture and atmosphere of the area. If you have been to The Last Bookstore, you have experienced his nostalgic assemblage pieces. If you have visited the Natural History museum you have probably seen his woven willow playhouse.
His most recent work uses his design aesthetic and skill with found resources. Saturday June 7th, Dave Lovejoy is presenting for the first time, his completed design for the lobby interior of the Broadway Arts Building, including his unique assemblage chandelier. Lovejoy has been working as a maker and designer since the early 1980’s. His artistic direction has always included using and repurposing materials from the 30’s and 40s, due to their wonderful patina of use through time. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in California, Hawaii and Oregon and is in collections throughout the United States and Europe.
