J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its Extraordinarily Ordinary International Online Juried Art Exhibition.

We came across this great quote by Marc Jacobs recently that we loved and sparked our creative nature…

”I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect—they are much more interesting”.

For this competition, we encouraged artists to take something ordinary and make it extraordinary. Artwork for this show varied from realism to surrealism to abstraction, and all media were accepted, including 3-D. All artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best inspired work. We had hoped to judge this online exhibit in three different categories, however, since ti was the first time we are repenting this theme, we decided based on the entries received to judge the show based on all the work together. We received entries from artists in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan and Sweden.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place.  The First Place winner for the Extraordinarily Ordinary show is Anna Chan for her mixed media piece, Bah Bah Sheep. Anna’s use of ordinary materials to create a playful image of an ordinary subject is what set her work apart. Anna is also the Featured Artist during the show.

Taking Second Place is Martha Nance for for her digital photo, Still Life With Redbud And Afternoon Sun. Martha’s attention to detail by capturing the intricate veins of the leaf, and her composition make this a stand out image. And, Third Place goes to Minnie Lucas for her photograph, Tea.  Minnie’s effective use of composition and choice of black and white create the overall mood and visual impact of the image.

Honorable Mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Lorri Dixon for her colored pencil, Elegant Peppers, Derek Entwistle for his digital photo, Untitled, Melanie Faith for her photograph, Flew The Nest, Lindsey Grant for her photo, Mix Tape Travesty, Margarita Henriksson for her mixed media, Before Swimming, Don James for his photo, The Creek Bed #3, Abhishek Tuiwala for his bronze and marble sculpture, Self-Portrait 3.0 and Deborah Zavon for her photo, Daikon & Shallot. Each of these artists presented the subject in a unique way through composition, color and technique, making an impactful image. Please visit the Monthly Winners Page to learn more about each of these award winning artists and to contact them directly about their work.

We thank all the competition participants.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. J. Mane Gallery does not enter into the selling of artwork featured in any of the monthly online exhibitions. You will find the artist's website or email by clicking on their images below.
