Victor Cartagena: Sites/Sights of Intervention

Country:

Categories:

A series of provocative installations by San Francisco-based artist Victor Cartagena aim to create an intercultural dialogue and empathetic understanding. Cartagena’s work pulls from his early memories fleeing El Salvador’s bloody civil strife in 1985. His work uses appropriated images and formal strategies to comment on his experiences with world events and broader social issues, including war, forced migration and exile, cultural violence, ignorance and social insensitivity.
