“Coast of Dreams” Artist Reception, Saturday, June 30, 2018 7pm  (Show runs until July 21, 2018)

Start this Saturday’s “date night,” June 30th at 7:00pm, at the Artist Reception for COAST OF DREAMS, an exhibit of photography by Azita Gandjei and painting by Elis Minborg.  Their art is sure to spark your imagination! Have some wine with the artists at Gallery House, 320 California, Palo Alto, CA (650-326-1668). These new works will be in the Featured Room of the gallery through July 21, 2018.

COAST OF DREAMS is a series of photographs and paintings depicting the magic, wild beauty, and oddness of California. This visual narrative, created by Azita and Elis, reflects the magical space between dream and awakening that has enticed so many explorers from around the world to move here in droves, seeking new beginnings.

AZITA GANDJEI  Azita uses her camera to show the interplay between the sensual and the soul. Influenced by early cinema as well as by Man Ray, Imogen Cunningham and Diego Rivera, Azita finds beauty in illuminations of the hidden within the recognizable.  She uses various lighting techniques to capture moments of vulnerability when her subjects reveal their unique qualities, displayed in movement, color, lines, textures, and light.

ELIS MINBORG  Elis’s watercolors are windows into the world of daydreams. Fairytales have always been their main source of inspiration. The classic folk tales often present a rose-tinted and graceful existence, next to situations filled of darkness and grief. Just like fairy tales, our imaginations bring us both romantic wonder and fear.

Gallery hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 10am to 6pm, Thursday to Saturday 12noon to 8pm and Sunday, 11am to 3pm. Closed Monday. Entry to the exhibit and reception is free for the public. ---320 California, Palo Alto, CA  (650) 326-1668.
