From the Wild to the Sublime, an exhibit of photographs by Norma Fries and Bill Shupp will run at the Gallery House, 320 California, Palo Alto, CA (650-326-1668) from August 22nd to September 16th, 2017. A reception will take place on Saturday September 2nd, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
As nature and fine art photographers, Bill and Norma present images of the wild and of the sublime. Their show brings the sights, and feelings, of their encounters with nature to your eyes and heart.
BILL SHUPP has a passion for the night sky and timelapse photography. His work has been featured on several sites such as Smithsonian Science, The Huffington Post, the Flickr Blog, in Digital Photographer magazine, and was a winner of Outdoor Photographer magazine's "The American Landscape 2014" competition. This exhibit will feature work from recent travels to Colorado, Iceland, and many locations around California.
NORMA FRIES has been photographing wild horses for 4 years. Her photographs resonate with her emotional connection to the wild horses she dearly loves. She experiences a mystical power among the horses who have survived roundups and sometimes brutal attempts to break them. Norma’s style of “Interpretive Photography” developed over decades, and is mostly self-taught through the school of “just get out there and do it.” The final result of each photograph can vary with the subject of her attention – ranging from crisp realism of film to an ethereal quality of a painting.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry to the exhibit is free for the public.
