"Circus Wheel", Artist, John Reily, mono-type, 14" X 18"

An exhibition of mono-type prints by John Reily and oil paintings by Hedda Hope, at Gallery House, 320 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA. The Exhibition will run from July 26 until August 20, 2016.  A public reception is scheduled for Saturday, August 6, 4-6 p.m.

Hedda Hope’s work evokes the energy of the natural world and often explores hidden spaces.  Inspiration comes from a synthesis of nature and inner perceptions.  The format is abstract, using colors, textures and multiple layers to tell her story. These paintings create an atmosphere that is both accessible and enigmatic. The abstracted quality of the paintings becomes something definable, recognition of an underlying story, a universal language of the human experience.

Hedda was born in Berlin, Germany, and arrived in the United States at an early age. She received a BA in Art from Stanford with graduate studies in art at U.C.L.A and Otis Art Institute. She later returned to college for an MBA from Santa Clara University.

John Reily is currently exhibiting his thoughtful and expressive mono-type prints. His philosophy of art is expressed as follows:

I believe that art is an essential aspect of life. Art is not an isolated discipline. Many disciplines fuel ideas in art. Understanding through art provides a unique perspective to view the world. Experience is the truest knowledge and the best teacher. As the artist Joseph Albers cogently states, "Experimenting surpasses studying." Art can promote change by challenging the status quo, bringing about change while taking risks. Through the appreciation of art one can value life more fully. Though the life of an artist is impermanent, the life lessons from art can bridge the boundaries of time.  In 1993, John received an MFA from San Francisco State University.
