We are excited to announce the opening of our new show at Gallery House, which will showcase the work of three artists working in different dimensions—light, fiber and earth. Artists Anne Lamborn, Michael Endicott and Anita Bora will showcase their work in an exhibit titled, Dynamics of Transformation, opening on March 27. The reception is on March 31, 5-7 p.m. is everyone is invited to attend. Gallery House is located on 320S California Avenue and is an artist-run fine arts gallery.

For the artists, art is about the dynamics of transformation. Sometimes the result is a sweet surprise, sometimes it’s more planned. In words of the three artists, “Whether through use of color, dyeing, weaving, light manipulation, shaping or textures—by manipulative processes on a loom, a computer or the potter’s wheel—our artistic experiences and influences recast the raw physical forms of our mediums into art meant to inspire stories and to be thought provoking. It is a journey we take together with you.” The “finality” of the dynamic transformation occurs when seen by you the viewer and the audience.

Anne Lamborn’s current work includes weaving, dyed fabric panels, paper drawings mounted on indigo dyed fabric, and photo transfers of her own drawings onto fabric. Anne has exhibited in various countries and will be having her next exhibition at Museo MARCA Cacabelos in Spain in May, 2018. She has produced a 48 foot wide woven mural for Winona State University in Minnesota as part of the Percentage for Art Program. Locally, in Los Gatos, she and Jade Bradbury produced a 5 foot x 15 foot mural with 450 participants for the new Town of Los Gatos public library.

Lamborn holds a BA in Art and Spanish literature from UCDavis and a masters degree in Art, specializing in art textiles from San Jose State University. She has produced monumental sized weavings for corporations, individuals, and public places. She says “Art should communicate an essence and improve the human condition.” Anne learnt to weave when she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala. You can follow Anne on her website www.annelamborn.com and on Instagram.

Michael Endicott is an urban nature impressionist photographer. He is also the Artistic Director of the Edge of Frame Gallery in San Francisco, California. His work explores the commonality in structure between the organic and the inorganic. There is a constant feedback loop between the two that affects us, both physically and culturally. The click of the shutter is where his artistic vision coalesces. The photograph itself then becomes the object of his attention.

His artistic process, “bending wavelengths of light,” can pull his photography into the realm of expressionist or abstract painting.  “I get very excited by the ‘space’ created in abstract and surreal photography for both the artist and the viewer to ‘see’ their own stories in my artwork ...And space also exists for the discovery of new details each time one revisits my photographs,” says Endicott. Follow his daily “Choose Joyful” postings on Instagram.

Anita Bora is a ceramic artist who enjoys working with textures, forms and surface decoration techniques to create interesting, playful and colorful objects. She discovered clay around three years ago and is constantly excited about the possibilities the medium offers. In her work, you’ll see influences of nature, patterns and impressions gathered during her travels.

For this particular show, Anita has created surfaces filled with colors, images and patterns. She works primarily with underglazes, a medium that allows her to ‘paint’ on the surfaces. While she uses the potters wheel to create symmetrical shapes, she also hand builds to create more organic and flexible shapes. She says, “I want to create objects that people will want to incorporate into their lives.” You can follow her work on Instagram and Facebook as AnitaBoraCeramics.

Dynamics of Transformation will open at Gallery House on March 27 and run till April 24. The opening reception will be held on March 31, Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and be a part of this thought provoking and visually dynamic show. For hours, please check the Gallery House website.
