“Overlap: Paint and Print”, an exhibit by Martha Castillo (Clayprint monoprint) and Trevelyn Williams (painting), will be held at Gallery House, 320 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA. from September 20 - October 15, 2016. A reception for the artists will take place on Friday, September 23rd,  6 - 8 p.m. Gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.

Martha Castillo continues her exploration of clayprint and collage with this set of new work.  She revisits the large-scale prints of recent exhibits, (34x46”), includes a variety of smaller works, and introduces new clayprint collages.  Expanding her clayprint vocabulary, Castillo has combined multiple prints to create collages, generating a fresh angle on this innovative medium. The cut edges introduce a sharp contrast to the organic shapes, resulting in intriguing tensions within each new piece. Whether generating a new monotype, or merging several prints into one cohesive collage, Martha continues to be inspired by the juxtapositions of shapes, textures and colors she sees in the world around her.

Trevlyn Williams will be showing a new selection of paintings featuring aspects of California natural landscape, from Death Valley super bloom, and the high Sierra to scenes of the elephant seals at Año Nuevo and the Big Sur coastline. Passion for the natural environment fuels the artist’s desire to capture scenery, flora and fauna of the region’s natural treasures.Trevlyn has been painting local landscape for many years, always with an eye for the unique and special. While watercolor has been the medium of choice in the past, this new work is mostly oil on canvas.
