Constellations in Color and Form features the works of 10 artists who have captured imagination through vibrant colors and textured mixed media, creating playful spectacles that evoke a variety of sights, sounds, emotions, and memories for viewers. The stories shared on canvas often reflect a nod to the cosmos as the artists share backgrounds in the arts, sciences, metaphysics, and math. Highly textured paintings emerge out from those trained in the precise world of numbers and formulas. Jillian Whelan, Cesar Rodrigues, Chadwick Arcinue, Rebeca Segura Rahme, Ed Belbruno, Konstantina Katsela, Monika Gloviczki, Salvador de Montesinos, Marion Kunstenaar, and Antonella Sissa have created collections reflective of their multiple crafts and conceived from their personal life experiences.

Through a variety of mediums and processes such as layering a range of color, creating texture, pouring paint and using gravity and tilting to spread it on canvas, and creating works with fabric, images emerge depicting undiscovered lands or planets, alien landscapes, and night skies, among other images.

Constellations in Color and Form is opening November 2, 2019 and will be on exhibit until November 22, 2019. There will be an opening reception Thursday, November 7, 2019 from 6-8 PM. Located at 530 West 25th St., Agora Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11am – 6pm. Entrance to the gallery is free.
