Agora Gallery proudly presents the Chelsea International Photography Competition Exhibition, a group show that will be on display February 19 - February 28, 2019. The opening reception will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 6-8 PM.

With an international emphasis, Agora’s juried Photography Competition Exhibition comprises photographers who have been selected from across the world, in an effort to showcase the diversity of photographic techniques and perspectives happening in the medium of photography today.

The styles and subject-matter on view range from portrait, to landscapes, to documentary photos, and situational photography capturing moments as they unfold in medias res. Taken as a whole, the individual works by these artists could be said to compose a mosaic, with each image exhibiting some feature of a globally interconnected world.

What distinguishes this show from other group shows exhibiting photography is the mingling of digital techniques and more traditional compositional methods. Many of the photographs on view have been digitally altered, or enhanced, so as to gently communicate a message that the camera’s lens alone would not be able to see. This melding of technologies, ranging from the immediate perception of the human eye, to the camera, to digital post-production, is the cornerstone on which the present exhibition rests.

The Chelsea International Photography Competition Exhibition opens at February 19, 2019, and will be on display until February 28, 2019, with an opening reception on Thursday, February 21, 6-8 PM. All are welcome to attend. Entrance to the gallery is free.
