Opening:
Thursday, 7 September 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Agora Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Breaking with Realism, featuring the works of Marco Mendoza, Noelle Kristine, Maciej Marecki, Nancy Landauer, Rina Lazar, Alex Osborne, Sydnei SmithJordan, Joan Criscione, Iftah Geva, Nobuko Saji, Claudia Mayer-Mallenau, Vandana Nittoor, Philippe Thélin, Georges de Groot, Heesu Choi, Patricia Brintle, Marc Tremblay and Herluck Antoine Blémur.

The eighteen artists in this exhibition are each recognized for their own respective practices that offer a refreshing meditation on how variations in color, composition, and texture reflect the complexities of emotion. The exhibition pushes the boundaries of traditional realist painting, sculpture, and photography by juxtaposing imaginative, contemporary portraiture with dynamic, abstract works that recall themes of spirituality, humanity, and the natural world in piercing detail. Furthermore, each artist presents a variety of mediums, including but not limited to oil and acrylic on canvas, pastel, and collage that invite the viewer to contemplate the collective language of the human experience.

Breaking with Realism will open on September 2nd with an opening reception on September 7th from 6-8pm, and will remain open until September 22, 2017.
